Conversation SDK
One configuration for your website and mobile apps.
Conversation SDK puts your Zowie AI Agent in front of customers on your website and in your mobile apps. You configure it once in Zowie (texts, design, availability and behavior), and the same conversation experience runs everywhere you deploy it.
Conversation SDK was previously called Zowie Chat, and its website version Zowie Widget.
Where you can deploy it
| Platform | What your customers see | How you install it |
|---|---|---|
| Widget | A chat bubble on your website | JavaScript snippet or Google Tag Manager, see Widget |
| Embedded | A chat placed inside your page layout | JavaScript snippet and a container element, see Embedded |
| Android | A chat screen in your Android app | Native SDK for Compose, Fragment or Activity, see Mobile |
| iOS | A chat screen in your iOS app | Native SDK for SwiftUI or UIKit, see Mobile |
| React Native | A chat component in your React Native app | npm package, see Mobile |
| Flutter | A chat widget in your Flutter app | pub.dev package, see Mobile |
You can use any combination of these at the same time. All of them connect to the same AI Agent and share one configuration.
What every platform supports
The conversation works the same way on every platform:
- Two channels: text chat and Hello. Customers can write to your AI Agent or talk to it. Hello is the voice channel: a spoken conversation with visuals on screen. Customers can move between the two channels in one conversation.
- Rich text. Messages from the AI Agent and human agents support Markdown formatting, such as bold text, lists, links and tables.
- Visual aids. Your AI Agent can show interactive content in the conversation, such as product cards, input fields or your own custom views. See Visual Aids.
- Authenticated conversations. Pass a JWT to identify logged-in customers. See Authentication.
- Customer data. Pass the customer's name, email, locale or your own attributes to the AI Agent. See Customer data.
- Custom events. Your processes can send events to your website or app, so your own code can react to the conversation. See Custom events.
Getting started
- In Zowie, go to Automate → Channels. Find the Conversation SDK card.
- Click Configure and set up the texts, design and behavior. See Configuration.
- Save the configuration. Your Instance ID is created on the first save. Until then, no platform can connect.
- Go back to the Conversation SDK card and deploy it on the platforms you need:
- Website: turn on Widget or Embedded, click Snippet, and add the code to your website.
- Mobile apps: copy the Base URL and Instance ID from the card. Then open Docs next to your platform and follow the installation guide.
Turning off Widget or Embedded on the card stops new conversations on every website where that snippet is installed.
Identifiers
The Conversation SDK card shows two values. You need them when you install a mobile SDK:
| Identifier | What it is | Where you use it |
|---|---|---|
| Instance ID | Identifies your Conversation SDK configuration. | All platforms. The website snippets already contain it. |
| Base URL | The address of your Zowie deployment, for example https://<slug>.chat.getzowie.com. | Mobile SDKs. |
