Visual Aids
Show interactive content in the conversation.
Visual aids are interactive elements that your AI Agent shows in the conversation, such as product cards, input fields or your own custom views. They let customers see details and complete actions without leaving the conversation.
Visual aids work on every platform: the Widget, Embedded and the mobile SDKs. They appear in both channels, text chat and Hello, and each channel displays them in its own way.
Built-in visual aids
Conversation SDK supports the basic types of visual aids out of the box, such as product recommendations, a shopping cart and input fields. Your AI Agent sends them by itself, when they fit the conversation, so you don't need to set them up.
Custom visual aids
You can build your own visual aid, for example an order summary or a booking confirmation, as a web page. Your process shows it in the conversation with ui.showVisualAid(url).
- To build the page, see Build a custom visual aid.
- To show it from a process, see UI methods.
Custom events
Your process can also send an event to your website or app with ui.sendEvent(name, params), for example to open a page or update the cart. Nothing is shown in the conversation. Your own code receives the event and decides what to do. See Custom events.
Hide visual aids
On Embedded, you can turn off visual aids with the showVisualAid: false option. See Embedded.
